Common Code Violations

Trash, debris, and discarded items (LVMC 9.40.040F2)

• Abandoned furniture, appliances, junk, or equipment visible from the street or alley.

Landscaping issues (LVMC 9.40.040C1, LVMC 9.40.040C5, LVMC 9.40.040C6)

• Dead or hazardous vegetation (LVMC 9.40.040C1) – dead trees, diseased plants, overgrown weeds, or vegetation that may harbor pests.
• Overgrown lawns (LVMC 9.40.040C5) – grass over six inches tall or encroaching more than two inches onto sidewalks/hardscape.
• Lack of landscaping (LVMC 9.40.040C6) – missing or unmaintained required landscaping in residential, commercial, or industrial areas, including parkways.

Graffiti (LVMC 9.40.040K).

Noise complaints (daytime) (LVMC 8.20.010).

Unlicensed businesses (LVMC 5.16.010)

• Operating without a City business license.

Obstructions in public right-of-way (LVMC 12.04.010 & 12.16.040)

• Junk in alleys, basketball hoops in streets, or storage pods without a permit.

Unpermitted construction (CBC 105.1)

• Building without a required permit.

Unpermitted or noncompliant signs (LVMC 17.20.010)

• Signage not approved or inconsistent with zoning/design standards.

Illicit discharges to storm drains (LVMC 13.50.050A-C)

• Dumping prohibited substances into drains.
