Qualified Contractors List
The City of La Verne maintains a Qualified Contractor List for informal public works projects, in accordance with Chapter 13, Division V, Section .40 of the City’s Municipal Code and the California Uniform Public Construction Cost Accounting Act (CUPCCAA) under the State’s Public Contract Code Section 22034.
Each year in June, the Public Works Department updates this list for the upcoming fiscal year. Contractors included on the list are invited to participate in informal bidding opportunities for City projects.
Public Contract Code Guidelines for fiscal year 2025/2026
Projects up to $75,000 may be completed by City staff (force account), negotiated contract, or purchase order.
Projects up to $220,000 may be awarded using the informal bidding process.
Projects over $220,000 must be awarded through the formal bidding process, unless an exception applies.
How the Qualified Contractor List is Maintained
Annual Notice – Each year, the City publishes a notice in recognized construction trade journals, inviting licensed contractors to join the Qualified Contractor List. The City currently notifies:

Associated General Contractors of America – planroom@agcsd.org
Contractor Information Required – Interested contractors must provide:
Company name, mailing, and email address
Contact phone number
Type(s) of work they are licensed to perform
Class and number of contractor’s license(s)
Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) registration number
Ongoing Updates – Contractors may request to be added to the list at any time by submitting the required information. Contractors who have submitted valid bids to the City may also be included automatically.
To be eligible for inclusion on the Qualified Contractor’s List, contractors must:
- Hold a current and valid California State Contractor’s License appropriate for the type of work they intend to perform.
- Maintain an active Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) registration number.
- Carry all required insurance and bonding necessary for public works projects.
- Comply with California Labor Code requirements, including prevailing wage laws.
- Provide a completed Contractor Registration Form to the City.
How to Join the List
To be added to the City of La Verne’s Qualified Contractor List, please submit your information as outlined above to the Public Works Department via email at CIP@laverneca.gov
